Hi. I am Maryann Carlson, chair of the Missions and Social
Concerns committee here at Church of the Redeemer. For most of us
here at Redeemer, we belief our faith calls all of us to serve as
every human is a neighbor. At Redeemer we are concern both with
issues of social justice and with supporting the hungry and poor. A
sample of specific missions and social issues that Redeemerites are
active in include:
Our annual intergenerational church mission trip: Every
year in the summer a group of 10 to 20 members of the church embarks
on a one-week journey to an "out of state" location to serve. We
recently traveled to Chicago, to Goochland, Virginia and to Northport,
Michigan. Our missions trip activities include handiwork (repair,
painting, roofing) soup kitchens, food pantries, and more. And we
have alot of fun.
Here's a video showing the highlights of our Summer 2007 missions
trip: (thanks to Derek Follett for the excellent vidiography! Special
Treat: Check out Ojibawa traditional and hoop dancing starting at about
time mark 6:00 in Part 1)

Interact Meal
Church of the Redeemer has a commitment to provide meatloaf and cakes for
this important meal coordinated by Interact Cleveland.
Our own monthly Community Meal We serve a hot meal to
all members of the community for free. This is a great new program
and a great way to meet many new friends. All are welcome.
Reconciling Congregations and Open Table Service: As a
Reconciling Congregation
we at Church of the Redeemer are actively working to promote full
inclusion of people in all aspects of the the life of the church,
regarless of sexual orientation. Redeemer supports a regular
Open Table service that is specifically welcoming and supportive
of Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, and transgendered worshippers in our
congregations and in our community.
